SF Against the Stream Daylong

November 7, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

Recovering Joy: A Mindful Life after Addiction
A daylong retreat with Kevin Griffin
Information
If recovery and 12 Step work is to have any value at all, there must be the possibility of finding happiness. And yet, much of the work seems to be focused on the negative: powerlessness, surrender, character flaws, and all the rest. This daylong retreat will focus on the ways we can find the inherent joy in our recovery as well as ways to cultivate and maintain tools for happiness.
Here are some of the topics we will explore:
• What Is Happiness?
• Walking the Talk: Integrating Values and Behavior
• Lovers and Friends: Satisfying Interpersonal Relationships
• Why Am I Here?: Finding Purpose and Value in our Lives.
• It’s an Inside Job: the Joy of Meditation and Self-Examination
Mindfulness meditation and the insights and appreciation for life it inspires is central to this work. The retreat will include instruction and discussion of this vital tool for recovery.
All are welcome, whether part of a 12 Step program, in recovery, or not. This retreat is for people addressing any form of addiction, whether substance, process, or relationship addiction.
