 nRecovery from addiction is often depicted as a practical issue: establish
  abstinence\, write inventory\, make amends\, and rebuild career and relat
 ionships. Those are all important steps. But sustained recovery depends on
  spiritual growth and transformation\, the inner work. For this part of th
 e process\, meditation and Dharma practice provide gateways to a new life.
  One cultivates serenity\, clarity\, and equanimity. No longer buffeted by
  the worldly winds\, we learn to breathe with the pleasant and the unpleas
 ant\, neither grasping at pleasure nor pushing away pain. We cultivate kin
 dness toward others\, and especially\, toward ourselves. This is spiritual
  recovery.\nThis daylong will include Dharma talks\, interactive exercises
 \, and Q&amp\;A. There will be guided meditations on mindfulness and lovin
 g kindness as well as teachings on mindful speech and wise reflection. We 
 will focus on how to attain inner balance through the ups and downs of lif
 e.
